Dear Readers, It’s me, Allie! I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I know I did. I visited with family, had a girl’s night and sleepover with my long-time best friend, braved the crowds of Black Friday with my brother and cousins, and saw my grandparents, uncle, and cousin off on their mission trip to Uganda! It was great to catch up with everyone and to spend time in my hometown where we do things a little differently than up here in Mattoon. (I’m from Kentucky for those of you who don’t know ☺ ).
So after that wonderfully relaxing break, I am back to the reality of junior year, (i.e. term papers, pre-Calc tests, and homework). I’m also back to cutting out sweets from my diet! It was nice to be able to enjoy some pumpkin pie, ice cream, and family desserts during the holiday, but to meet my new goals I’m going to have to refrain from indulging my sweet tooth!
Speaking of my goals, I almost forgot to mention my new plan! My fitness goal is to be at my goal weight by the end of the school year. That means I have approximately 6 months to lose 29.2 lbs. That seems like a lot, but I broke it down and it averages out to losing a little over 4lbs per month: that is actually much more doable than I originally thought. To achieve my goal, I’m going to be hitting the gym 3-4 times a week, cutting out desserts and junk-type foods, avoiding second helpings, drinking 8 glasses of water a day, keeping track of my calorie intake with the handy-dandy My Fitness Pal app, (I would totally recommend that by the way, and it’s free!), and above all THINKING POSITIVE! I would encourage you to set goals like this for yourself. It helps you maintain consistent, healthy practices when you have a focus in mind.
