Breakfast with Bob Features Balance, Exercise

April 10, 2012 3:21 p.m.

Enjoy a light breakfast with Certified Physician Assistant Bob Dougherty at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Casey Clinic and learn how you can improve your balance and strength.

The breakfast presentation will be held from 8 to 9 am, Thursday, April 26, at the Casey Clinic. The presentation will also feature exercises that participants can do at home to improve their balance and strength. The Sarah Bush Lincoln Physical Therapy staff members will demonstrate the exercises.

Dougherty said, “Poor balance and the lack of core strength is one of the largest contributors to falls among older people. By exercising regularly, you can maintain your strength and muscle tone and keep your joints, tendons, and ligaments more flexible. Weight-bearing exercise can keep your bones stronger and help prevent fractures should a fall occur.”

For more information, or to reserve your seat, call AdvantAge 50 at 258-2420, or email jtruesdale@sblhs.org. Seating is limited for this free program.
