Toledo Clinic to Relocated, Expand

December 9, 2014 7:53 a.m.

After nearly 70 years in the same location, the Sarah Bush Lincoln Toledo Clinic is moving to the opposite side of the courthouse square in Toledo.

Sarah Bush Lincoln purchased three lots on the northwest corner of the square and has prepared the site for construction of its new clinic. Construction is expected to begin in late winter or early spring depending on weather.

Sarah Bush Lincoln vice president of Development Kim Uphoff said, “We’ve been considering our options for quite some time. The truth is we’ve outgrown the usefulness of our building and it doesn’t really meet our needs any longer.”

Sarah Bush Lincoln purchased the building from Family Practitioner Lowell Massie, MD, in the early 1990s and renovated the building in 1995.

The new clinic, being designed by Utz and Associates of Effingham, will be bid out to local contractors for construction. The 5,500-square-foot facility will feature a canopied entrance, a brick exterior, space for two medical providers, and X-ray and Laboratory services. Physician Assistant Keith Ballinger will continue to care for local and area residents at the facility. The expected cost is roughly $1million.

The Toledo Pharmacy currently attached to the Toledo Clinic, has been invited to share space in the new facility.

The current building will be donated for community use.
