This team of doctors, nurses, exercise physiologists, exercise specialists, respiratory therapists, dietitians and certified diabetic educators can help you identify the program that is right for you, and help you get back on your feet and create a lasting, healthy lifestyle.
• Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation is an exercise and education program for people who have had a heart attack, have heart disease or who have had a heart procedure such as angioplasty, stenting, bypass surgery or valve replacement surgery. It is a smart strategy designed to create a heart-healthy lifestyle that will help you prevent problems from recurring.
• Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pulmonary
rehabilitation is an exercise and education program for people who have
COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), emphysema, asthma or
other serious lung conditions. Although there is no cure for these
diseases, there are effective therapeutic techniques that can help you
create a more healthy lifestyle, decrease hospitalizations and improve
your quality of life.
Many people choose to continue their
cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation in our maintenance (Phase 3)
program. This program helps you further your goals and achieve even
greater confidence and independence in living healthy.
During cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation,
- Our team of experts will evaluate your condition and develop an individualized exercise program.
- Your heart rate and rhythm or lungs will be continually monitored while your program is fine tuned each step of the way.
- Education while you are exercising makes the classes enjoyable and allows for support, interaction with other class participants and sharing of ideas.
Whether
you have been recently diagnosed or have had heart or lung problems in
the past, the goals of cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation are to:
- Strengthen your heart, increase your tolerance to physical activity and build endurance.
- Reduce your risk of future heart problems.
- Give you the confidence, understanding and skills needed to care and cope with a chronic illness.
- Teach you proper nutrition, breathing retraining and relaxation techniques.
- Improve your quality of life.
- Reduce anxiety.
- Educate and support you while you develop a healthier lifestyle.
