Clinical Significance
Increased levels of urinary uric acid are used to identify patients at risk regarding stone formation, genetic defects and nephrolithiasis, urinary excretions of uric acid, increases steadily until the 16th week of gestation. After the 16th week the excretions of uric acid remains unchanged at approximately 40% above the non-pregnant level.
