Clinical Significance
One of the principal diagnostic aids for muscle disease and assists in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction and liver disease. Serum aldolase determinations have been of greatest clinical interest in primary diseases of skeletal muscle, the highest levels occurring in progressive Duchenne-type muscular dystrophy.
