Clinical Significance
P-ANCA antibodies are found in 50-70% of ulcerative colitis (UC) patients, but in only 20% of Crohn disease (CD) patients. In contrast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae IgG antibodies are found in 80% of CD patients and 20% of UC patients. Saccharomyces cerevisiae IgA antibodies are found in 35% of CD patients but less than 1% in UC patients.
Note:
This test may be a useful tool for distinguishing ulcerative colitis (UC) from Crohn disease (CD) in patients with suspected inflammatory bowel disease.
