Clinical Significance
Evaluate concentrating ability of kidneys; electrolyte and water balance; work up renal disease, inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone, and diabetes insipidus; evaluate dehydration. Useful in urinalysis when patient has had radiopaque materials, has diabetes dehydration. Useful in urinalysis when patient has had radiopaque materials, has diabetes mellitus or other cause of glycosuria or has proteinuria.Evaluate dehydration, amyloidosis.
