Do you love to quilt? Then this trip is for you. We’ll start the day at Prairie Points Quilt Store in Peoria when you can shop for that special fabric to make your next quilt. We will also visit Peddler’s Way Quilt Co., in Washington, IL and The Quilt Corner in Morton, IL. Between shops, we will enjoy a buffet lunch at Avanti’s Italian Restaurant. This trip is sure to fill up fast. Also included in the cost of the trip is lunch, dinner on the way home and tip for the driver.

“My kind of town, Chicago” awaits you on this trip. We’ll enjoy a Chicago Style Pizza lunch before enjoying a guided tour of Chicago’s crime history with three stops enroute for a closer look at historic crime scenes. At the end of this two-hour tour, there will be time for shopping on Michigan Avenue or Navy Pier. Lunch, tour and tip for the driver are included on this trip. Dinner on the way back to Mattoon is on your own.

There is so much to explore in Columbus, Ohio, and several of the places we will visit produce “Made in the USA” products. Highlights include visits to The Candle Lab, Igloo Letterpress, American Whistle Factory, the annual Blooms and Butterflies event at Franklin Park Conservatory, and North Market, which has more than 32 merchants selling specialty foods, bakery products, produce, flowers and much more. Dinner the first evening will be at the Worthington Inn, rated a Columbus “Top 10” since 2004. It is known for the farmer-to-chef concept and work with local farmers to feature as many locally grown fruits, vegetables and meats as possible. On Friday, we’ll lunch at Schmidt’s Restaurant and Sausage Haus, which is located in a historic brick livery stable. Schmidt’s has been offering award-winning food for five generations since 1886. Save room for dessert – the cream puffs are worth the trip. Included in the trip are lunch and dinner on Thursday, lunch on Friday and tip for the driver. There will be a fast food stop on the way home Friday night, which is not included.
Gardens Galore, Rockford, Illinois

Calling all gardeners – this trip will truly inspire and delight you. First stop will be the Anderson Japanese Gardens where we will enjoy a guided tour of the beautiful gardens. Next stop will be at the Council of Rockford Gardens Garden Walk. In 2014, there were six featured gardens. Lunch, dinner and tip for the driver are included in this trip.
Caverns, Capsules and Carvings

We will explore Blue Springs Caverns and enjoy a boat ride through the caverns. We’ll lunch at Spring Mill State Park where we will have a guided tour of the Pioneer Village before leaving to visit the Gus Grissom Memorial. Also included in the trip is shopping at Apple Acres Country Store and a Limestone Country stop where we will view the limestone carvings and learn its history. Please note that the entrance to the Caverns requires walking up and down a concrete ramp. Lunch and the tip for the driver are included, but dinner on the return trip is on your own.

Have you always wanted to know how a dairy farm operates? Well, here’s your chance. We will tour the Marcoot Dairy which has been in the same family for seven generations. There will be time to shop for cheese and dairy products. Next stop is the Excel Bottling Company which has been in business since 1936 and produces 20 different flavors of soda. We will enjoy a family-style lunch at the Trenton House Restaurant. In the afternoon, we will tour Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site and visit Eckert’s Farm and Country Store, where we will enjoy a wagon ride through the orchard, eat pie ala mode and shop. Lunch and tip for the driver are included in this trip.
Spoon River Scenic Drive

This unique Fall Festival is a self-guided motor tour covering 140 miles of scenic roadways through 15 villages/cities with 24 sites. You will find antiques and collectibles, flea markets, fine arts and hand-made crafts, historic sites and reenactments of historical events, and home-cooked food everywhere. Although we won’t visit all 24 sites, we will make stops in Farmington, Smithfield, and Dickson Mounds State Park. Included in the trip are lunch, dinner and tip for the driver.
Indianapolis Gift and Hobby Show

Start your Christmas shopping at the 65th annual Indianapolis Gift and Hobby Show. The Christmas Gift and Hobby Show is a five-day power shoppers’ paradise…all under one enormous roof! With Merry Money Giveaways, Holiday Stage Entertainment, Merry Merchant Markdowns, Santa and more! We’ll end the day with a family-style dinner at the Iron Skillet Restaurant.
