Body Smart for Women

An exercise program designed to help women achieve overall fitness is being offered at Sarah Bush Lincoln.

Body Smart for Women is a six-month exercise program that is designed to teach women about the importance of aerobic exercise, strength training and toning, and flexibility. Classes will consist of 30 minutes of aerobic exercise along with 35-40 minutes of strength training, toning, and flexibility exercises. The program will meet at Sarah Bush Lincoln in the Monitored Exercise Training Services (METS) Exercise Lab at 5:30 pm twice a week for 21 weeks. The program fee is $150.

Prior to starting the program each participant will complete a health history questionnaire and have a fitness assessment consisting of a low-level functional capacity test; waist and hip measurements; BMI and body composition; along with a push up, squat, and sit-up assessment. Most of these measurements will be repeated mid-way through the program and again at the end of the program. During the program participants will receive weekly education on various health topics and instruction on proper exercise techniques.

Since Body Smart for Women is an exercise class and the intensity levels will be moderate to vigorous, anyone who has known heart disease or any major orthopedic injuries will NOT be permitted to participate.
