Sleep Disorders Center

The Sleep Disorders Center of Sarah Bush Lincoln

Sarah Bush Lincoln offers two locations in which sleep studies are performed. The center located in Mattoon is on the East end of the new Prairie Pavilion 1 (south of Health Center across the parking lot). The center located in Effingham is in the SBL Effingham Clinic at 905 North Maple Street. Both locations offer convenient access and mobility.

Both locations provide hotel-style amenities in tastefully designed private rooms. Each room features a queen size adjustable bed, a flat-screen television with DVD playback capabilities, and a private bathroom. The quiet surroundings will help induce a restful night's sleep, while our experienced technologists monitor your sleep patterns.

Sarah Bush Lincoln uses the latest technology to conduct sleep studies. A sleep study is painless and usually conducted throughout the night while you sleep in a specially designed lab that resembles a hotel room. The room is designed so the technologist can monitor through video, audio and electronically. Lightweight sensors are attached to the scalp, areas of the upper body and the legs to record electrical activity. A specially trained polysomnographic technologist continuously monitors breathing patterns, muscle movement and the sleeping EEG. Following the study, a sleep specialist will interpret the results of the test and send them to your doctor.

A Sleep Study can determine if you suffer from obstructive sleep apnea.
