Week 18

Everyone knows the Grinch stole Christmas, but I want to know who the Schmuck was that stole Summer? I am missing the nice warm days after work when I could ride the bike, take a walk or loaf around in the yard. With my weight loss, I find I get cold. The only person enjoying that is my office mate Kristy. She is always cold and I used to laugh at her when she snuck a rise on the thermostat. Now I am the one doing it and she is laughing at ME! I guess the old saying about she who laughs last, laughs loudest!

I met with my HMR group last night and had my weekly weigh in. I only lost .2 pounds this week and am not sure why as I stayed with the program. I think sometimes my body just has to adjust to the changes going on. I continue to feel really good and have a lot of energy and was able to make it to the Y five times last week for some good workouts.

This weekend I had some new “what/how am I going to eat” challenges. I spent two days at the Covered Bridge Festival. One of the things I like about my program is the entrees. The entrees are ready to eat, do not require refrigeration and can be microwaved and ready in 60 seconds. I took one with me called Turkey Chili and ate it cold. It was pretty good and I felt full.

I can say, "once a food addict always a food addict," and the smells from the food booths did call my name a couple of times. For most of my life when there has been something to celebrate or just a fun social gathering, there is a big emphasis on food….what will we order if eating out, what will I fix to take with me and of course there are the traditional foods that “make” the event. Since I have not been eating “food,” I find I am more focused on the people and enjoy myself a lot more and I don’t go home feeling stuffed.

I know in the not-too-distant future I will be transitioning to regular food and will have to apply everything I am learning in my classes, and that scares me just a little.

The problem with sound advice is it’s usually 99 percent sound and 1 percent advice.

I am In The Box…..I wish the Cardinals would get on the board!
