So much to do and so little time. Week 40 at weigh in I lost 2.9 lbs. I think that is because I was able to get out and increase my physical activity. Then Week 41 I gained 2.2….fooey! I will be interested to see what I do next week as on Week 40 I weighed in in the morning and on Week 41 I weighed in the late afternoon. I don’t know about anyone else, but I generally like to weigh in the morning, before breakfast, lights off, in the nude, after a big exhale, a short prayer and hopefully a productive trip to the bathroom.
In Phase II, I am applying all the information in the classes and tips from others in my group. Someone brought in a tip that I tried and even my husband liked it. The tip was a recipe for brussel sprouts. Cut fresh brussel sprouts in half, roast in the oven for 40 minutes, remove and sprinkle with sugar-free syrup. Sounds yucky…but they were really good.
In Phase II we are to have a minimum for five servings of fruit or vegetables, mostly from those with lower calories. I was having problems getting them in, then I thought, I wonder how the lower calorie ones would taste with the sugar-free syrup. I got some butter flavored that is 20 cal. per ½ cup. It really made a difference to me. In fact, fixing my meals is really simple. I throw a bag of frozen vegetables in the microwave for 5 minutes, take them out and put in either a HMR entrée or a low-calories entrée from the grocery store for the allotted time and my meal is ready. I have learned: Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants!
A few years ago one of the doctors at work lost a lot of weight and he told me his wife had bought him a Yonana machine that turns frozen fruit into custard-like ice cream. I found one at Christmas, bought it, put it away, forgot about it and found it this weekend. Wow, what a treat! I put a bag of frozen strawberries, pineapple and peaches through the machine and sure enough it came out like ice cream. I added a little sweetener and it tasted like sorbet that I used to get in my favorite Champaign restaurant, Biaggis. The whole bag was about 200 calories and it made a very large amount, so I shared with my hubby who also enjoyed the treat.
My Couch Potato to 5K class at the Y is coming to an end. April 12 (my 64th birthday) we will run in the Girls On The Run 5K in Charleston sponsored by the Y. Every Tuesday and Thursday we have been training, upping the running time. Last Thursday we were to run a full three miles for the first time. Because of the rain and lightning, we ran at the Y. I failed the class. After about two miles, I got so hot I didn’t know if I was going to PPorD (puke, pass out or die.) Luckily I didn’t do any of them, but I didn’t run the three miles on the schedule. Part of the training has been homework that we were to do on Saturday or Sunday, which was to repeat our Thursday class. Today, I went out and ran the three miles without any problems.
Don’t argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
