Dear Readers,

Happy New Year! I can’t believe how quickly this new year arrived, but here it is, a chance to start fresh, a clean slate! People make fun of New Year’s resolutions, but wouldn’t you like for this to be the year that you prove everyone wrong? This could be the year you finally accomplish what you’ve been wanting to for ages.

I began working toward my fitness goal before the New Year began, because I believe I’ll be more likely to keep it. I have a funny story about that actually! Last night I was at my boyfriend’s New Year’s Eve party, and everyone was about to partake in an ice cream sundae bar. It took all my willpower but I declined the ice cream and sat down with a plate of strawberries and pineapple. Unable to leave me to eat my fruit in peace, my friend Chase began attempting to force ice cream down my throat- even using the old “here comes the airplane!” technique. Throughout the evening I was chased with ice cream, pelted with puppy chow, and teased to no end! However, the torment was no match for my determination to avoid sweets.

If I can face all that and still stick to my resolution, I’m sure you can do it too! There’s nothing like the feeling of being able to say “I did it!” and know you’re reaching your goals.

So, Happy New Year, and Happy New You!!

-Allie ☺
