The DFI program serves children under the age of 18 and who are taken into limited custody for being absent from home without parental consent, beyond the control of parents in circumstances which constitute a substantial or immediate danger to the youth's physical safety, and also serves a preventive role by engaging high risk students in Psychosocial Groups in the school system. The majority of clients served are between the ages of 13 and 17 years of age, are Caucasian, and are from low income, single parent homes. Services include case coordination, community maintenance, comprehensive youth development, employability development, family support, individual and family counseling, and referrals to other needed services.
