Health insurance coverage can change from year to year. Recently Blue Cross Blue Shield announced that it was discontinuing Blue PPO Bronze, Silver and Gold plans and enrolling participants into a plan that does not offer in-network local medical care.
Sarah Bush Lincoln and its affiliated medical staff are not in the Blue Choice Preferred PPO (BCE) plan. This plan is being pushed to employee groups of less than 50 people and individuals in the Healthcare Marketplace.
With the discontinuation of the Blue PPO plans, unless participants select another plan, they will be automatically enrolled in Blue Choice Preferred PPO (BCE) plan, in which Sarah Bush Lincoln does not participate. Participants have until January 31 to make their final selections.
Sarah Bush Lincoln Vice President Finance Dennis Pluard explained, “We respect that community members can select the insurance plan that works best for them. We just want them to be aware that if they remain in the Blue Choice Preferred PPO (BCE), all services will be out-of-network, and they would likely be responsible for 100 percent of the charges.”
Sarah Bush Lincoln and its affiliated medical staff does accept:
Blue Cross Blue Shield (with the exception of the above mentioned PPO plan)
Community Partners Health Plan (CPHP)
EIU Student Insurance
Healthcare’s Finest Network (HFN)
Humana (Medicare only)
MHNet (Behavioral Health)
Multiplan (includes BCE Emergis, Pro America, Preferred Plan, and Interplan
Private Health Care Systems (PHCS)
While insurance companies have many plans, participants should check with their medical provider(s) and hospital of choice to determine if they participate in the plan they are selecting.
