Translation and Communication Services
A full range of communication options are available to ensure that patients and visitors with hearing problems, speech problems and those with foreign language barriers have access to healthcare services.
Sarah Bush Lincoln offers a wide variety of in-person translators to help patients and their family members convey their medical concerns to our staff members, and help them understand the diagnosis, care and treatment options presented.
When an in-person translator is not available, we use a Language Line. This telephone service provides translation services for nearly all languages and is medically based so the medical staff, patient and family can receive accurate information on which to base their decisions.
The TTY line is available for people with hearing difficulties. Additionally, we have staff members who are fluent in sign language. Our Speech Pathology staff members can assist people who have difficulty speaking.
