$317.00 per person/4 persons/room      $395.00 per person/1 person/room
The first day in this quaint town will be all about sightseeing. We will have a step-on guide who will take us on a guided tour of Galena with stops at the Belvedere Mansion and Gardens, the Dowling House and the Grant House, The Belvedere has been considered the finest mansion in Galena since it was built in 1857. Come experience its majesty for yourself. This historic 22 room mansion is truly lavish, the largest and "most often visited" Italianate mansion in Galena for more than 33 years! Galena’s oldest house, Dowling House, was built in 1826 by John Dowling. Built of limestone, it was once the only trading post in the city. The Dowling House was equipped with primitive living quarters and hosted many fur traders in years past. The Grant House was given to Ulysses S. Grant by the people of Galena in 1865 following the Civil War. In 1904 Grant's children gave the house to the City of Galena with the understanding that this property is to be kept as a memorial to the late General Ulysses S. Grant, and for no other purpose. The property is now managed by the state of Illinois. Following our sightseeing, we will enjoy a wonderful dinner at the Desoto Hotel. The second day will be spent exploring the many shops in downtown Galena. Lunch that day will be on your own. The cost of the trip includes dinner the first night and dinner money on the return trip.
