To help you gain a better understanding of our destinations, we are hosting a Kick Off Party on Tuesday, March 15. Troy Orwig and Rita Knotts from Good News Travels will be on hand to answer your questions. We hope you can join us to meet Troy and Rita and enjoy some light refreshments.

The Field Cooking School is a hands-on cooking school where we will prepare the meal and enjoy our creations. Our destinations following lunch will be The Garlic Press in Bloomington, IL and the Olive Bin, also in Bloomington. The Garlic Press is a one-of-a-kind store featuring kitchen and cooking items as well as artisan cheese, flax clothing and hand-crafted cards. The Olive Bin features more than 40 flavors of oil and vinegars. Lunch and tip for the driver are included in this trip.

A three-part introduction to Microsoft Word will provide participants with an overview of this word processing program. The class will be held in the Red Oak Room of Prairie Pavilion 2, second floor, right across from the elevator. Limited seating is available, so reserve your seat early.

Discovering Louisville, KY

Discover all that Louisville has to offer on this overnight trip. Highlights of the trip include a demonstration of candy making, tour of museum and shopping at Schimpff’s Candy. Then it is on to the Louisville Slugger factory and museum. After checking into the hotel, the next stop will be a buffet dinner at Derby Dinner Playhouse prior to the curtain going up on “Legally Blonde.” Day two highlights include a Ghost Tour of Historic Louisville with a special guest before heading to Churchill Downs.  While at Churchill, we will enjoy lunch at Silver Spoon II Restaurant followed by a “Hat-A-Tude” tour of the museum, a walking tour of Churchill and a chance for everyone to make their own “Derby Hat.” All meals and tip for the driver are included in this trip.

Explore the craft vendors and shops in Kimmswick before having lunch at the Blue Owl Restaurant. The Blue Owl, featured on the Food Network famous for its Levee High Apple Pie. Also included in this trip is a tour of Grant’s Farm before a final stop at Ted Drewes, famous for its frozen custard. Lunch and tip for the driver are included in this trip.

Not only will this trip include a stop at the Indy Urban Flea Market featuring a large selection of antiques and collectibles, it will also include 50 y’arrd sales thoughout the Northside Historic District. The really big y’arrd sale is held annual at All Saints Episcopal Church.  The day will wrap up with dinner at Almost Home in Greencastle, IN. Tip for the driver is included in this trip and lunch will be on your own.

Start your day at the Field Museum where the special exhibit in the Cyrus Tang Hall of China features textiles, rubbings, bronzes, ceramics and sculpture, and travel across thousands of years of history in one of the world’s most influential civilizations.  Following lunch on your own at Navy Pier, we’ll enjoy the Chicago Architectural Foundation Cruise on the Chicago River. The guide will indicate points of interest as we view Chicago from another angle.  Dinner and tip for the driver are included in this trip.

Enjoy the fall colors and all the quaint shops in this beautiful town. Every shop has something different to offer and I am sure you will find that special item for which you have been searching. Dinner will be at Cataract State Recreation Area when we will dine on the Covered Bridge. Lunch is on your own but the tip for the driver is included in this trip.

Christmas in the Heartland, Plainfield IN

Our first stop is at the Plainsfield High school, home of the annual Gingerbread Christmas Craft show. Master artists and crafters will be showcasing a wide variety of creatively crafted and original works of art. We will lunch at the Oasis Dinner, an original 1954 Mountain View Diner from Signac, NJ, which has recently been relocated, restored and reopened in Plainfield on the Historic National Road. Next stop will be Frazee Gardens where you can enjoy shopping in its unique gift shop and attending one of three workshops – pine cone bird feeder, wreath bow-making or Indiana Mistletoe. Our last stop will be Beasley’s Orchard where you can shop in a 150-year-old Civil War-era barn market decorated with boughs of greenery and twinkling white lights. Each guest will have hot apple pie ala mode with choice of hot cocoa or cider. Lunch and tip for the driver are included in the cost of this trip.
