Sarah Bush Lincoln Offers Free Heart Health Series

Free heart healthy program on obesity and weight loss Feb. 12.

January 30, 2013 2:03 p.m.

Location: Lumpkin Family Center for Health Education

A free heart healthy program presenting information on weight loss will be offered at Sarah Bush Lincoln.

The Heart Smart series will present an hour-long session on obesity and weight loss at 6 pm Tuesday, Feb. 12 in the Lumpkin Family Center for Health Education, Lincoln Room. Being overweight or obese can increase your risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Even a small amount of weight loss (just five to 10 percent of your current weight) can have a big benefit for your health. Losing weight is not easy, but this session will provide simple tips for making small changes in your daily eating habits to benefit your health.

On March 12, the Heart Smart series will focus on controlling cholesterol. Future topics, which will be presented on the second Tuesday of every month include reducing blood sugar, managing blood pressure, eating better and getting active. This program is funded in part though a grant by WomenConnected, a giving circle with the SBL Health Foundation.

For more information, contact Karyn Cole in SBL METS at (217) 258- or 348-2177.
