Epidural Class for Expectant Parents Offered

October 31, 2014 11 a.m.

“We’ve Got Your Back!” Epidural/Intrathecal class will be held from 7 to 8:30 pm, Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Lumpkin Family Center for Health Education at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Another class is offered from 7 to 8:30 pm Dec. 8. This class is vital for any expectant mother who may wish to have an epidural or intrathecal (another type of pain relief medication) during her labor.

SBL Anesthesiologist Virginia Price, MD, will be the featured speaker and will discuss the differences between epidurals and intrathecals, as well as the benefits and side effects of each. The class will also include a video and further discussion regarding labor pain, comfort measures, and more so expectant parents can make an educated choice, along with their doctor, regarding pain medication options.

The class is free of charge; however, pre-registration is required. Please call the Office of Perinatal Education at (217) 258- or 348-BABY (2229) to register.
