EIU Students Donate Coloring Books to Kids in Hospital

December 5, 2018 3:06 p.m.

Members of Eastern Illinois University’s Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociological Honor Society recently donated activity books to comfort children who are hospitalized at Sarah Bush Lincoln during the holidays.

The group donated a variety of coloring, puzzle and sticker books purchased with funds raised during an event at Mi Casa Tu Casa Mexican Restaurant in Charleston. During the event, 10 percent of restaurant sales were donated to the cause. “We do a service project every year because the gift of giving and paying it forward is so important to our mission,” AKD Honor Society President, Kailey McCormack said. SBL Women and Children’s Center staff member were excited to receive the donation to help keep children’s minds off their troubles.
