SBL Welcomes New Lincolnland Hospice Manager

Lincolnland Hospice of Sarah Bush Lincoln is pleased to welcome Nancy Pankonen, RN, as its new manager.

Pankonen comes to the community from Milwaukee, Wis., and brings with her 10 years of hospice experience. She formerly served as a hospice Team Manager at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, the nation’s largest hospice provider, in the Milwaukee area. Earning a nursing degree from Cardinal Stritch University in 1994, Pankonen also has experience caring for people as a nurse in acute, subacute and long-term care settings.

With family in Effingham, she is excited about her new position at Lincolnland Hospice. “Hospice care has much to offer to people during a very difficult time in their lives,” she said. “I find it an incredible privilege to be allowed to be present during such an intimate and emotional time. Lincolnland Hospice has an amazing team of staff members who are so knowledgeable and dedicated to helping improve a person’s last months by offering comfort, dignity and care.”

Lincolnland Hospice cares for and supports people who are terminally ill and their families in their private homes, nursing homes, and all types of residential settings. It’s a comprehensive program of care dedicated to controlling pain, relieving discomfort, and supporting the terminally ill person and their loved ones physically, emotionally and spiritually.
