SBL Prepares to Build New Neoga Clinic

February 17, 2016 11:50 a.m.

Sarah Bush Lincoln recently purchased three parcels of land in Neoga to build a fully modern clinic in the community.

The three properties are adjacent to its existing clinic at 650 Oak Ave., and include a car wash and laundromat, a home and a vacant building.

Sarah Bush Lincoln Facilities Services Director Tim Kastl said it hopes to secure an architect by early summer to design a facility on the new properties. The current facility will be razed to make room for an expanded parking lot for the clinic.

The newly proposed clinic will look similar to other Sarah Bush Lincoln clinics with a brick facade, canopied entrance and expanded reception area and exam rooms to better accommodate the two providers at the Neoga Clinic, Family Practitioner Janice Vandeveer, MD, and Iven Boehm.

Typically, once construction begins, it takes about seven months to complete. Kastl said he hopes it would be open in early 2017.

Sarah Bush Lincoln purchased the clinic from the Swengel family shortly after Dr. Robert Swengel passed away in 1994.
