Greenup Man Donates to SBL Regional Cancer Center

March 1, 2017 2:21 p.m.

Stacey Carl of Greenup recently donated $500 to the Sarah Bush Lincoln Regional Cancer Center. Carl, who is currently running for mayor of Greenup, raised the funds by seeking donations from community members for yard signs supporting his political campaign. Carl has been battling stage IV colon cancer for more than a year, yet his mission is always to help others. “I feel very blessed in my life and I know there are people out there that need the money worse than I do,” he said. “I can’t say enough about how great the nurses and caregivers have been at Sarah Bush Lincoln”.

Last year, Carl donated $1,000 to the Regional Cancer Center from donations raised during a father/daughter dance that was organized in his honor. A second father/daughter dance, with all proceeds benefiting the SBL Regional Cancer Center, is being planned for March 25 at the Greenup Municipal Building. For more information about the dance, go to https://www.facebook.com/events/253840445052835/ or email Megan Nelson at [email protected].

Carl has served on the Greenup Village Board for eight years and is beloved by community members for his roles as the town’s Santa Claus, youth football coach and owner of Carl’s Pizza.
