SBL Golf Benefit Set for June 9

May 11, 2017 5:12 p.m.

Sarah Bush Lincoln will host its 28th annual golf benefit on Friday, June 9, at the Meadowview Golf Course. Net proceeds from the event will benefit the construction of Sarah Bush Lincoln’s Heart Center.

Through its Life . . .Nothing Beats It campaign, the SBL Health Foundation is committed to raising at least $2 million to support construction of the $31 million project. The addition, which is underway on the southeast side of the Health Center, will span 65,235 square feet. The first floor will consolidate cardiac services including the addition of a second cardiac cath lab, 15 exam rooms for the cardiac and pulmonary clinic, rehab gym, stress testing, echo cardiography, pulmonary function testing, EKG, and nuclear medicine. The second floor will house 20 additional medical surgical rooms. The entire addition will be connected to each adjacent floor of the Health Center, including a new elevator going to the third and fourth floors. It is expected to be completed by December 2018.

Golfers have a choice of either a morning or afternoon flight. A continental breakfast will be available during morning registration, which begins at 6:30 am, prior to a 7:30 am tee off. Lunch will be served from 11 am to 2 pm and registration for the afternoon flight will begin at 11:30 am. The afternoon flight will tee off at 1 pm.

Prizes will be awarded to winners of challenges on each of the 18 holes during a reception from 6 to 8 pm in the clubhouse. Prizes include: gift certificates from area restaurants; furniture; Cardinals and Cubs baseball tickets; Chicago Bulls basketball tickets; Illinois football tickets; Nascar tickets; and outdoor living and patio items.

The lucky winner of a raffle will win a seven day/six night trip to Maui, Hawaii. Tickets for the raffle can be purchased for $10 each during the golf benefit. However, buy early to take advantage of the “buy one, get one free” offer available to anyone purchasing raffle tickets by June 8. You need not be present to win. Special thanks to Doug and Tracey McCord for the generous donation of their Hawaii home.

Title sponsors for this year’s event include: BSA LifeStructures; CoBank; Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative; First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust; Hinshaw & Culbertson, LLP; and McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.
