Lincolnland Hospice Hosts Special Two-Part Memory Event for Children

July 10, 2020 3:36 p.m.

Lincolnland Hospice of Sarah Bush Lincoln is hosting a two-part event in honor of its 20th annual Memory Day, a program geared toward children who have experienced the death of a loved one.

On Saturday, July 25, children ages five to 15 are invited to create a special keepsake in honor of their loved one during a Keepsake Workshop at 10 am on the second floor of Prairie Pavilion 2, located at 1004 Health Center Dr., Mattoon

Keepsakes will be picked up on Memory Day, which is set for 10 am, Saturday, August 1, in the lobby of Prairie Pavilion 2. Memory Day will focus on cherished memories children have of special people they have lost in their lives. As part of the event, children take part in a “bubble celebration” to pay tribute to their special loved ones as well as other activities.

There is no charge to participate, however, registration is necessary and an adult is required to stay with the child during the program. Precautions will be taken to ensure a clean, health space for everyone.  Social distancing will be observed whenever possible and everyone attending is required to wear a mask.

For more information or to register, please call Lincolnland Hospice Bereavement Counselors Dawn Sexton or Resa Ware at 1-800-454-4055. The use of Lincolnland Hospice is not a prerequisite for participating.
