Sarah Bush Lincoln has begun construction on a major expansion of its Tuscola Clinic to meet growing demand for healthcare services in the region. The $5.2 million project will more than double the size of the existing facility and introduce new specialty and therapy services to better serve residents of Douglas County and surrounding communities.
The clinic, located on a 2.39-acre site, will expand from 6,723 square feet to 16,717 square feet, adding 9,994 square feet of new space while remaining on its current footprint. When complete, the expansion will include dedicated areas for cardiology, orthopedics, and a full physical and occupational therapy gym, with room for additional specialties in the future.
Construction began last week and is expected to be completed in about 12 months. “We are excited to expand our services in Tuscola and continue investing in this community,” said Kim Uphoff, President & CEO of Sarah Bush Lincoln. “This project reflects our ongoing commitment to improving access to high-quality healthcare close to home.”
The SBL Tuscola Clinic currently provides comprehensive primary care through Kim Whitaker, MD, and Kaci Helfrich, APRN, as well as convenient Walk-In Clinic services. Primary care access will expand even further this December with the addition of Kavitha Raman, MD, Internal Medicine.
Recently, Electrophysiologist Abraham Kocheril, MD, began offering cardiology services at the Tuscola Clinic, bringing specialized heart rhythm care directly to local patients.
