April 3, 2014 3:48 p.m.

Former NFL pro, Ray McElroy, encourages kids to help him run a 5K race at Races for all Paces.

The eighth annual Races for all Paces at Sarah Bush Lincoln will be held Saturday, May 17, all races start and end at the Sarah Bush Lincoln campus. McElroy will serve as the emcee for the event and also participate in the Run With Ray 5K race. Kids 17 and under are encouraged to run this 5K with McElroy.

“I am excited to participate in this fun, family event and run with the kids,” McElroy said. “It’s a great way to encourage healthy activities while having fun and rewarding to see the end result when a child finishes the race.”

Ray McElroy played cornerback for six seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, the Chicago Bears, and the Detroit Lions. He is an EIU graduate.

The Run With Ray 5K is $5 and a medal will be provided for all finishers.

Races for all Paces also includes a half marathon, 10K relay challenge, 10K individual race, 5K fun run/walk, 1 mile fun run/walk, a toddler trot and a diaper dash.
