Graduate Student Practicums
Physician Assistant Students
Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center is proud to collaborate with the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program. This strong academic relationship dates back to 2000 and has produced many talented Physician Assistants, some of whom went on to become providers at Sarah Bush Lincoln. At this time, SBL does not affiliate with other Physician Assistant programs, nor do we accept any Physician Assistant students from other academic institutions. For further information on the SIU PA program, please contact the Admission Assistant at (618) 536-0292 or [email protected].
Medical Students
We are proud to have a collaborative agreement with the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine Rural Medicine program in Rockford, Illinois and the Rural Student Physician Program in Peoria, Illinois. Medical students have the opportunity to complete an M3 Clerkship and / or an M4 Preceptorship at Sarah Bush Lincoln. Dr. Lucas Catt and Dr. Robert Biggs are current adjunct faculty members with UIC, accepting students for rotations in Family Practice. For further information on the UIC program, please contact Central Admissions at (312) 996-5636 or [email protected].
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Students
Sarah Bush Lincoln accepts Nurse Practitioner students from several universities. We provide rotations for many graduate degree options. The Selection Committee meets in May to consider applicants whose practicums begin in June through December. A November meeting is also held to consider candidates whose practicums begin in December through June. Application deadlines are May 1 and November 1 for consideration at these meetings. While we do accept some external candidates on a limited basis, our SBL nurses are given priority in the selection process. Nurses who are pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing also require practicums, and these may be completed at Sarah Bush Lincoln.
