Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment

The most effective treatment for non-healing wounds.

The Sarah Bush Lincoln Advanced Wound Center features the latest technology in Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment (HBOT). HOBT is an adjunctive treatment in which the person breathes 100 percent oxygen while enclosed in a pressurized chamber of greater-than-normal atmospheric pressure.

While breathing pure oxygen, the blood plasma becomes saturated, carrying 15 to 20 times the normal amount of oxygen to the body’s tissues. The ultimate result is that the body’s natural wound-healing mechanisms, which are oxygen dependent, are able to function more efficiently.

The Sarah Bush Lincoln Advanced Wound Center is equipped with two hyperbaric oxygen chambers.

Treatments typically last up to two hours. A two-way communication system built into the chamber allows the person receiving care and the care team to stay in constant contact. Also, those receiving treatment may choose to watch television during the course of their treatments.
